The Fool By Sandy Jones
The whole world is one big huge living symbol packed with meaning. It is as if life is a living storybook. If you become aware of this, you can find what you need right in front of you.
Life, the living book is telling us the Truth all the time. It is not hidden, if you know how to read It.
From The Gospel According To Thomas:
Jesus said : "Know that what is before Your face, and what is hidden from You will be revealed to You. For nothing hidden will fail to be revealed." and this: "I am the Light that falls on all things. I am the All. From Me the All has gone out and to Me the All came back. Cleave a piece of wood, and I am there. Lift up a stone, and You will find Me there."
Everything is a living symbol of the Truth.
And further more, we create symbolisms to represent and help us understand the Living Symbol. We find ways to go deeper into understanding Life.
The Tarot cards are very good example of an artistic expression of the many of these Symbolic Archetypes in Life. One that jumps out at me is The Fool.
In the world of people places and things the sophisticated adult often denigrates people who seem to be fools. The fool is put down and laughed at.
But in the Light of Truth the Fool represents the best card in the deck.
In many ways we should dare to be the Fool.
The Fool represents our pure and innocent Childlikeness.
"Lest you become as a little child, you shall not enter the Kingdom"
Finding our way back to childlikeness is, in Truth, the one and only answer to all our troubles and sufferings here in the world.
The Child is our Soul, our Real Self. Finding the Child again is what the Physcholgists call Self-Actualization. It is what the religions call Chirst Consciousness. The Child is our Original Self. God has always known your name, this the Child you are.
They call the Fool Card the Zero Trump Card of the Tarot Deck.
The Sophistcated, limited-mind-set of the adult doe not like the The Fool. What appears to be a Fool to the "old man" in the world of the ‘materialistic-objective world view’ is really the incredible and wondrous sacred Truth of our own magic and mystical Selfhood.
The Fool represents the Divne Spark, the Inner Soul of everyone. This is our unadulterated childlikeness, It represents some part of us that is made of pure and holy essence.
If you look at the card you will see that The Fool is embarking on the journey of life. He is traveling, he carries a lttle pack on his back and he is walking with his dog. And yes, you are right, dog spelled backwards is God, and in this case God is what the dog by his side represents.
He does not travel alone, he goes with God, he is on a journey of self-discovery, mastery and dominion.
He is innocent, and whimsical with feathers in his hair. He does not fit the 'societal detirmination, the educated intellectual' so they call him a fool.
But he has found the Real Self, he is the Child heart, Pollyanna, Son of God.
He is the sage in all of us. He is wisdom not born of 'human schooling' and he has found the deep wellspring of Intelligence from deep inside. He has no need to appear intellectual, nor to defend himself. He is wisest of them of.
When we look at the picture on the Food card we see he has an air of fearlessness. Hel faces life and his journey unafraid and trusting. He is the living embodiment of what faith really is, which is an inner knowing that all will be well, even when the world tells us otherwise. He knows that every experience in Life is for the purpose of guiding us toward finding the True Self. That every event in our life is to used for finding the deeper meaning.
We see that he is balanced on the edege between spirit and matter. His eyes are turned to the heavens and he knows that he will be kept safe and whole along his travels.
The Fool' face it turned forward, so this card denoting new beginnings, and optimism, looking forward to our life jouney without fear or worry
His backpack is not very big, so he is unbrudend, going forward with out carrying too much and he is certainly not carrying the trappings of pretense.
Interestingly, the Fool card is seen by some who read Tarot cards as the most worthless card and yet by others, as the most valuable one; Much the way humanity percieves the Truth and Self Knowledge.
The Fool card is considered the first and the las of the deck. It is the alpha and the omega. It ends where it begins.
This also means that being 'enlightened' or being The Fool, finding the Child is not the end. Finding our True Identity is really the beginning. It is the beginning of our Life of freedom and our Heart filled with peace and understanding. The discovery of The Child brings us to the Dawn of The New Day.
The Fool reminds us of the sacred and mystical things that we have forgotten.
The Fool knows he knows nothing, but knows he knows All. All and nothing is the Kabalistic Zero. The Fool Card is Zero. The all and nothing.
Here we find the the initial and final balance. Here is that perfect place between Spirit and Matter, where No thing is being every thing. Where Zero has no source, yet all arises from It.
Here where we find the Child is like finding the place in middle of the X. Below the middle place is downward world of matter. Looking up from the middle of the x we find Spirit and Eternal Light. Here in the middle the opposites meet.... and become one. The Fool is the lving balance, the Child of us that is the convergence itself. Here the Fool knows that the Truth is duality and non-duality; both all at once.
This place of no beginning and unseen Light is also what is called the Zero Point of Quantum Physics.
The Fool is intricately linked with all 21 cards of the Major Arcana - The other Major Arcana cards represent all the parts of the Fool's whimsical journey of self-discovery, culminating with the Number 21 World Card.
The World card tells that us that the Fool does not leave this world of time-space-matter, he does not deny the world. The Fool is comes back into the world again, but this time knowing he knows his purpose and reason for being here. The Child, the Fool has divine insight into the purpose and reason for this worldly experience.
Fully Self-Realized, he has found his own inner Christ Light. The Light of Truth that is withn us all. The Child is the Self Knowing One who lives "in the world, but not of it." Meaning we are no longer under the influence of the world and we know the powerlessness of things.
The Fool tells us to walk our own path, not follow the crowd, not join the herd. He is alone, he is individual and on independent. This tells us that as our Real Identity we have everything we need and our treasures are kept close to us in our little backpack (our Heart).
He tells us to trust our own inner voice, our intuition and our inner knowing. He is here to tell us that we are all to embark on our life course with faith and a brave heart.
Look for this Fool within you, it is only considered to be a fool by those who are stuck in the 'adult thinking'
This Fool is your undying Child Heart and It knows all will work out exactly as it should.
The Fool, The Child of God, The Original Self is the one who has let go the outmoded beliefs, false constructs and dogmas and ridged thinking. The Child, the one who appears to be a fool to the judgemental, condesending 'eyes of the world' is really the unbound fearless Spirit of you. It your Heart, the one who holds near and dear to the higher vision and ideals, the one you are that is filled with love and the courage to pursue his own special Divine Path.
Much Love, Sandy
