If I hadn’t seen
the crack of light
shining radiant
single crystal,
that brilliant ray
sword splitting
fabric of the curtain

Sparkle pulling the eyes
of my heart toward
something real
getting the joke, only
just between me and thee
I smile now just thinking
of that sweetness

If it hadn’t been for that
shimmering glimmer
I’d a thought this painted scene
be real-- perhaps even
for the danged rest'a my life here
and if I thought that---no way
I could do this, I just couldn’t do this.

If I hadn’t seen the artist peering out at me
parting that thin flimsy film of sheer
showing me a peek behind the stage
gentle love saying
look here...

I would’a never known the wonder
and the joy of your grace
or hear again the laughter of
this child heart of mine
thought lost and gone forever

Her innocence sees unseen things
behind the animations
drawn upon the screen

She can see the infinite detail
and beauty of this painting...

Not one color or leaf or tear
out of place

The extraordinary marvel that
goes into this glorious art work
on the pages of a million story books
gathered and stacked upon
the library shelves
in my Father's house
